Keep Oceans Blue is a celebration of our oceans
and an opportunity to honor those who work tirelessly
to protect them. This event is being held at the
Monterey Bay Aquarium on April 21, 2006 from 7-9PM.
The evening will include fine food, opportunity to
enjoy the exhibits without the crowds, celebrity guest
speakers, Kids Corner Art Presentations, and silent
auctions which include sailing lessons, SCUBA
equipment, private evening cruises, and even a
sailboat. There will also be awards for our “Ocean’s
Heroes.” These awards will be given to those have
gone above and beyond the normal call of duty to make
a difference. I am asking you all to send in
nominations. Perhaps a volunteer who has reliably
given to your cause for years without proper
recognition, an educator who made a difference in your
life, someone who works for a non-profit or government
agency who puts ocean protection above and beyond
basic job duties, a politician who made ocean
protection a major issue, or an attorney who put in
hundreds of hours without pay to help pass certain
legislation. Anyone you feel has made the greatest
impact. Please only nominate one person for this
award. There will be several winners who will receive
a beautiful plaque and awards which include hotel and
restaurant gift certificates, as well as merchandise
prizes. This event is hosted by the Aquatic Protection
Agency.

When sending in your nomination please
include a name and contact information to those you
have nominated, and a short essay (no more than a
page) detailing why you feel that one person, beyond
all others you know, deserves the “Ocean’s Heroes”
award. Nominations must be received by March 1.
Note: Aquatic Protection Agency staff,
board members, program directors, and volunteers are
not eligible for this nomination.
Tickets for the event are available
on-line at
www.AquaticProtection.org or by contacting Eric
Russell at 831-915-8190. Discounted tickets are
available prior to March 1. If you are interested in
attending act fast, as this is a limited engagement
and may sell out.
Please pass this email around, as my
email list is limited, and there are a lot of
potential “Ocean’s Heroes.”
